Creemore Valley Classics VIP Stories #25

I purchased this 1973 model Triumph TR-6 on April 19th 1973 from MacMillan and Saunders in Malton, Ontario for the sum of $4500.00 tax included. It included overdrive for the transmission which effectively makes this a 6 speed transmission and a full tonneau cover (in black) that covered the entire cockpit from windshield to gas cap on the rear deck.

My late father wanted me to buy a Mercury Comet (Ford Maverick) and told me that I wouldn’t have the Triumph in 2 years. I kidded him well into his 80’s that “if he behaved himself, I might let him drive it”. I’ve had the car longer than I’ve known my wife who is the mother of our 5 children and 3 grandchildren so far!

I’ve lost track of the number of “older” gentlemen who have approached me and said, “I owned one of those when I was young, but after I got married and had kids, I had to sell it”. I think I’m proof that isn’t so. The car is still in its original Emerald Green colour and has been around the clock (more than 100,000 miles). After 44 years…………..I think I’ll keep it
