My name is Dorothee Anne McLean, a resident of Collingwood, and proud owner of a 1974 red E-Type V-12 Jaguar Roadster with factory hard-top. It was the most exciting surprise to find it parked in our driveway the morning of my 50th birthday, complete with a big red bow!
As I approached this dreaded milestone, I warned my husband that I would not be turning 50 unless there was a small, fast car in the driveway. I had been thinking of a second hand Mazda RX7…never dreaming of the Jag, my fantasy car.
Because it’s a stick shift car, I had to relearn my skills when I received my present. At the time we were living in the Yonge-Eglinton area. Fortunately for me, there was a nice, quite, short street nearby which I used for practice.
A couple weeks later I was driving this awesome machine on the 401 (speeding no doubt) to Shannonville, to a vintage car show, where the Jag took both Judge’s and People’s Choice awards!!
This was the beginning of 29 years of joyful, albeit expensive driving. This is a beautiful, head-tiring car, but for me it’s eye appeal is surpassed by the pure joy of driving it.
Owner: Dorothee Anne McLean.
We are happy to report that Dorothee’s story and photos were submitted by good old-fashioned snail mail – hand typed along actual colour prints of the car. A rarity in this day and age![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
